Enjoying my time off after medical training

The past two weeks off have been restorative and delightful. I’ve spent time doing all the things I wanted - spending time with friends and family, reading (like, so much reading), getting outside, and drinking all the lattes.
In my last blog post, I wrote that my goal after finishing residency was to relax and get bored so I would be ready for my first shift in the emergency department. While I don’t think I’ve hit boredom yet, I do feel more relaxed and excited.
I’ve finally had some time to acknowledge how big a milestone it is to have completed my medical training. I almost can’t believe I did it; I’m so proud of myself for embarking on this journey in the first place. I’ve also been meditating on how grateful I am to everyone who has helped me along the way, and I've had time to reflect on my accomplishments.
This time off has been a resolute reminder of the importance of taking breaks and celebrating accomplishments. I hope that every now and then you take the opportunity to do the same.
Stay well friends,
